NitratesI am currently taking Metroprolol Tartrate and Lisinopril for the past 7 years . Will a dose of viagr

a affect these medications in a negative way?
Answer:
dmncsbstn - You doctor should have discussed this with you when he gave you the prescription for Viagra, but I can tell you that in general, it is safe to take Viagra and metoprolol or lisinopril. Viagra will commonly cause a decrease in blood pressure of up to 10mmHg. If you are already taking blood pressure meds (like metoprolol and lisinopril) it will decrease your blood pressure further, but studies have not shown an increase in adverse events when people on blood pressure meds take Viagra. HOWEVER, people with a low blood pressure at baseline (90/50 or lower) were not included in the study so if your blood pressure runs in that range, it would advisable to avoid Viagra. Also, if you are taking nitrates at all, DO NOT TAKE VIAGRA as the combination can cause a profound and prolonged drop in your blood pressure. As always, the best thing to do is to talk to your doctor OR your pharmacist to make sure there are no other drug interactions you need to worry about. While Viagra is usually ok with metoprolol and lisinopril, I don't know if you are on any other medications that could potentially interact with the Viagra.Hope that helps. Stay safe!
If you are on nitrates, viagra will not be a good mix.
You should be asking your doctor about this issue..
Do not take viagra if you are taking nitrates--blood pressure will fall so low you may have a stroke, go blind or even die.
