Nutrition info?

What is a good website to get the information on foods like produce, like how good a carrot or banana is for you? What foods to get iron or leutien from and so forth?
Answer:
http://www.weightlossforall.com/food-cal... has calorie content of most foods, and some nutritive facts. Additionally, the ADA -- http://www.diabetes.org/nutrition-and-re... has excellent info on nutritional values. You can also ask a nutritionist or dietitian at the local hospital for more info. Hope this helps!
Action Plan for Diabetes
1. Nutrition is the key to getting rid of the cravings. Once you learn about nutrition (#6) and also cleansing out the toxins in the body by doing a colon, liver, and kidney cleanse. You'll be on your way to a healthy life.2. Keep in mind that the goal of diabetic treatment and self-care is to restore blood sugar levels close to normal and to correct related metabolic disorders. One of the best ways to accomplish this is by eating small, frequent meals throughout the day that emphasize fresh, organic foods that are low on the glycemic scale, such as raw and lightly steamed vegetables, low sugar whole fruits, nuts, seeds, whole grains and legumes, yams, wild fish, poultry, lean cuts of beef, bison meal, lamb or veal.3. Minimize or eliminate your intake of simple carbohydrates and all sugars, as well as tobacco and processed "junk foods." In addition, reduce your intake of alcohol and caffeine. Both alcohol and caffeine could be enjoyed on special occasions, rather than daily or even weekly habits.4. Remain hydrated; drinking adequate quantities of pure water is essential for all aspects of your health. Must drink about a gallon of water a day to maintain health. Your body is craving this much more than caffeine and sugar.5. Engage in regular light exercise and stress reduction because they are KEY to maintaining lower levels of blood sugar.6. Consider supplementing with nutrients such as B-complex vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin E, CHROMIUM PICOLINATE, magnesium, potassium, essential fatty acids, CoQ10, alpha lipoic acid, and vanadium. 7. Herbs such as astragalus, CINNAMON, bitter melon, fenugreek, raw garlic (one of the best for blood pressure), ginseng, Gymnema sylvestre, and nopal cactus, can also provide significant benefits.8. If you have already developed Type I or Type II diabetes, combine the above self-care natural cures with professional care from a holistically oriented physician or other alternative health care practitioner. Particularly useful professional care therapies for treating and preventing diabetes include chelation therapy, food allergy testing, parasite testing and if necessary, cleansing, and oxygen therapy.9. Prevention, if you are pre-disposed and managing a diabetic condition, is a life-long commitment. By committing to the guidelines above, you can significantly improve your symptoms, and, if you suffer from Type II diabetes, quite possibly reverse them altogether. Implementing diet and lifestyle changes can help improve your energy levels, and your confidence in your ability to experience greater health. 10. Watch the 8-minute non-profit video http://www.rawfor30days.com/view.html... , about diabetes diet.

Nursing homes?

my dad is in a nursing home. We have had lots of problems ever since he got real sick. he has MS and we can't seem to find a nursing home that is even decent (with their care). How do you know if it's a good one or not? He's in the third one. I'm a nursing student so when I'm there I watch them very closely. They don't do anything they way I was taught. They are rough when they move him around. They don't give him water through his feeding tube. They don't change him when he uses the bathroom for very long periods of time. Today they told us he needs a blood transfusion but wouldn't tell my sister why. They just said the lab reports said he needed it which is not good enough for me. They said they have to wait until the hospital isn't so full to get it done. Are there any good nursing homes? Or do they all treat their patients like crap?
Answer:
I am CNA in a nursing home and the answer is no nursing home will ever be good enough for your family member because they deserve the best in care. In my home the corp. only allows so much staffing and we are expected to do it all I take care of 12-15 patients. I have 1 hour and 45 mins to shower and dress all 12-15 residests. As well as answer hundreds of lights, get vitals, pass ice, pass snacks, and change and turn them every two hours., as well as do everything the nurse tells me to. I have approx 7 mins per patient, and even less when you factor in all other things like lights, ice etc. This all stems from the state and government guidelines to the corps. are not strict enough.
Take this from exp. The residents that get the best care are the ones with families that ***** non stop. But then staff hate your gts. If you keep moving your father around you will get a black flag with future nursing homes and then noone will except him. That has happened to a few that have tried to move thier parents out of ours. We have one of the highest rated homes in PA for our size, but it wil never be good enough for some families. My grandma stayed there till she moved to an assisted living facility. She was too good for long term care. I chose my home because of our scores. You can look up all deficiences in the nursing homes you want it is publiv viewing on line under PA dept of health. I know how you feel, but believe me majority of staff love what they do, but are sad there is not enough time for all that needs done. Why else would I clean up Bm and vomit for 8.00$ per hour. Thats after 9 yrs of service. I suggest you keep your father where he is unless they are abusing him by emotional stress or physical, if you try to move him again, it might backfire. Make lots of notes around his room for staff to read about suggstions. Buy him good soap we love washing people with good soap, deoderant, lotions, etc.
The lowest people on the pole in the nursing home are the ones who care because they see the patient the most, as you move up it gets worse. But blame the stae and the corporations that own the homes for the crappy service.
Im sure there are some good ones out there...even though you hear more about the bad ones than the good. I would ask for references at the rest homes you check out. Maybe get some feedback from some family members who have loved ones at that particular location you might be interested in. Good Luck
Honey..stay on top of it as much as you can. Report them if you had to....I wish I had. My grandfather was in a recovery/nursing home type of hospital and we often visited him and came in to find him gasping for air cause his air mask had fallen of or was unplugged, or the hose just slipped of. We often saved his life by getting there just in time. Obviously we couldn't be there 24/7 and I think that's what lead to his death. We got there he wasn't at his bed anymore and no one had told us or called us to tell us he had had a problem and they took him to the hospital via ambulance. I can't beleive I didn't just sleep there in his room with him he'd still be here. All the things I saw done wrong and I did nothing. Yes, they do treat them like crap, even with the family there. I'd say they do something wrong report it, and look for another or I don't know how bad he is, maybe you can get help to hire a private nurse. I know my grandparents had one for a while. Their insurance and some elders assistant program helped pay for it. I would check into it. Your right though, trust your instincts, don't settle, and speak.
Do not know what state you are in, but, their is a licensing board some where that gave them a license to operate that nursing home. Get a hold of them. Here we have Ombudsmen, They are a go between for the patient. Ger a hold of them or their counterpart. Call adult abuse center. MOST important, document everything. Get a notebook, in ink write down and date what you see that is incorrect, wrong, hurtful harmful. It does take a lot but 2 of the places here were finally looked into. The owner, manager went to trial and or jail. Any way it is now under new management. Talk to other people about their family member residing in the home.
I think anyone who really checks into what goes on in a nursing home is dissatisfied with what they see. From what I have heard other say, the care is better if a family member visits daily. They aren't as lax with care if they know a patient is going to have a visitor...one who will complain if things aren't being done for him.I realize some patients need around the clock nursing care, but I hope my mom never gets to that point. She lives with us now and I think I would have someone come into the home and relieve me for time blocks before I would send her to a nursing home. She doesn't have a debilitating disease though, so that makes a difference. My best advice is visit often, and at varying times. Keep them on their toes and question what you find unacceptable. Talk to the head nurse or who ever is on duty and make your concerns known. All nursing homes have areas they need to improve. Sad, but they are getting to be overworked and over-filled.Try this Medicare site. See if your dad's nursing home is listed. You can compare it's ratings report with others in the area.
http://www.medicare.gov/nhcompare/home.a...
The best way to find a good nursing home, is to shop for a job at one. The places who pay thier employees well and are adequetly staffed will be the best ones with the most experienced people. Being a nursing student will put you at an advantage. Ask around, find out where everyone wants to work. You should take him to the doctor yourself. Have the doctor do blood work on him and check for signs of neglect (bedsores, rashes, brusies). Ask the doctor to document EVERYTHING. Dehydration is easy to spot, and its the #1 problem in care facilities. Come back and say, hey, the doctor told me this and that, im worried. You wont even have to say any more because they are so paranoid about lawsuits. This should buy you some peace of mind until you find a good place.Nursing homes are a last resort. If you are able to find an assisted living facility or hospice that will take him, that would be ideal. Usually the smaller homes are much, much better.
Call the director, his doctor and the board of directors. The standard of care seems to be very low. There are places that can care for your Dad the way he should. It never hurts to keep tabs on any health facility.
I have worked in several nursing homes and assisted living facilities....... the ONLY one I worked at that treated the patients the way they should and had a low patient to staff ratio and low turnover was the Washington State Soldier's Home........A State run facility. they paid staff way more than privately run homes, never gave us more than 8 patients per shift, and had the best care overall. The rest are run for profit, patients are "warehoused", they are paying low wages, have high turnover, and very high patient to staff ratios. I had 20 to 30 patients to care for on a shift at one place, which is impossible to give good care to that many. I just did the best I could and hoped they made it through another day. There can be good CNA's in any home who will give good care, but they are rare (honestly) and there just aren't enough of them to go around. The homes with the highest number of "welfare" clients are recieving the poorest care, in my experience.. I hope you can find a better place for your father.

Nurse/Doctor Advice Needed Urgently!?

I am on holiday in the US (no medical insurance here) and on an extremely limited budget. I cannot find a doctor or nurse here to talk to on the phone or to arrange an office visit with today. I've been having pain/burning during urination and frequently feel the need to urinate for several days. However, today I also started getting strong, throbbing abdominal cramps, nausea and diarhhea. I don't want to go to the hospital unless it is absolutely necessary- as I don't have the money to pay for that. Will I live to see another day if I try to schedule to see a doctor tomorrow (if I can find one to see me) or is this something that needs immediate attention.
I know it is stupid to travel without health insurance- my situation at the moment made it impossible to organize. Any honest, helpful advice would be an absolute miracle. I would appreciate it immensely. Thank you.
Answer:
Get to a Doc-ASAP-Call tomorrow and ask can you pay on time-tell them your situation. I don't know where you are but here there are doctors that would take you. It sound s like a bad UTI. Dr ink Cranberry Juice-Azo does no good-just causes the Urinary test to be orange when they test and it's some times annoying, and it will not help, and yours sounds pretty bad. Most E.R.'s are $500.00 and that's not counting the test they'll run. Go tomorrow-Darlin I wish you would have already gone. I think if you can make it one more day, you're gonna live.
go to the local ER. they will bill you for services.
drink lots of water, avoid drinks that are sweet or contain caffeine, and wash your hands before wiping your bottom (wipe front to back).
You need attention. Now. Find the closest hospital. They will not turn you away without insurance.
Sounds like it could be a urinary tract infection. AZO can be purchased in a drug store, and usually helps.
Definitely sounds like a UTI until you can visit the doctor make sure to drink lots of cranberry juice and water. Check online to see if there are local clinics in your area. The health department would even work...many go on a sliding fee scale. Just explain your situation and someone can usually find you some sort of help. Even the catholic diocese has clinics in many areas that provide basic medical services.
Rather than going to an ER where you will incurr outrageous costs while you sit for 10 hours in an overcrowded waiting room, find an "urgent Care" center. These have doctors and nurses on staff that can prescribe meds - you need antibiotics. It sound as if you had a UTI that spread. When tehy prescribe something, ask wheth erthey have med samples (FREE!) or whether they can specify that generics are ok - the price difference is enormous. You will find urgent care centers through Yahoo Yellow pages. In the meantime, drink lots of water.
The honest advice is that you do need to see a doctor. You could have a simple urinary infection (drink lots of water, lemon barley water if you can find it), lay off the alcohol, don't have intercouse, stick to basic hygiene; but even that won't clear up without a course of antibiotics. The cramps and other symptoms are more worrying, though - the urinary infection could have spread to the kidneys, if you're a woman you could be having an ectopic pregnancy; there's no way this will clear up on its own and by your own account you're getting worse. This isn't worth taking risks with, please.
As a healthcare provider I think you have a urinary tract infection. It is not a life threating conditon, but it can make you feel terrible untill you get it taken care of. Sitting is a warm bathtub can help the discomfort. You can buy an over-the-counter medication for burning during urination.
How awful... Sorry to hear that. Something similar happened to me on a trip (in my own country...). For the urinary issues, over-the-counter AZO Standard pills numb the pain in your urinary tract. You can buy it in any drugstore or grocery store. You may have a stomach flu or ate something bad. In any case, if you have diarrhea, your body's naturally purging itself (literally) of the toxic elements, so that's a good step. Where I got into trouble was when I got really dehydrated and needed a saline IV at the local ER. Keep in mind, you may have to wait hours to see a doctor, so you might want to wait a few hours and see if you feel better. I hope you're not alone. Pepto Bismal tablets (also in the drug/grocery store) can help if it's food poisoning or something like that. Don't take anti-diarrhea medicine (like Immodium), until after your body purges itself a bit (otherwise, you slow the natural process), but it's great at calming the cramping if it doesn't stop after diarrhea happens. Drink a lot of water. Your body has an amazing ability to heal itself, you just need to watch out for dangerous symptoms or if you aren't getting better. Good luck!

In 1946, Congress passed a law that gave hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities grants and loans for construction and modernization. In return, they agreed to provide a reasonable volume of services to persons unable to pay and to make their services available to all persons residing in the facility鈥檚 area. The program stopped providing funds in 1997, but about 300 health care facilities nationwide are still obligated to provide free or reduced-cost care.

It sounds like you have urinary tract infection, you need to drink lots of water, stay away from soda, tea, coffee, etc. There is a over the counter med. that you can buy to help relieve the pain it is called uristat, however it makes your urine orange, but it will help with the pain. You do need an antibiotic to cure it completely, but seeing as how you are on vacation you can do the things I told you and wait until you get home to make an appt. with your doctor.

Now that i have given up smoking?.....?

its killing me.. how do i stop myself from wanting to seriously hurt some mother f*****!..no really please help me give up the fags!
Answer:
Join a gym with a punchbag. Seriously - it's good for you and you can enjoy it. Print out a violation notice from Yahoo and stick it on the bag. When the violation notice is nothing but pulp, your work is done.If you don't have your own violation notice, I believe I can supply pretty much any level of demand on that front...
nicotine patches
Ok im a bad example because i quit for about 3 months then went back to the sin sticks but heres what got me through. The first 6 days suck bad. Especially the car. Chew lots of gum and i liked to chew on pens. It sounds weird but it really helps. Honestly once you get past that first week its a breeze. I just got cocky and let my fiance smoke in teh same room/car with me and id take hits every now and then....
this may sound stupid but it works...find a substitute to put into your mouth, and have the will power to stop the urge. everytime you get an urge you can:
suck a lolly
kiss your boyfriend/husband
stick a pen in your mouth
chew gum
drink a glass of water everytime
Please don't smoke. Call your doctor and get drugs from him/her. Without my Zoloft and Xanax I would not have made it. It is better to be addicted to those than to smoking. I also find being on here (Answers) helps. I should own stock in "BUBBLE WRAP". I purchase the small bubbles and the large ones. Those help more than I can say. Drink a LOT of fluids. Not alcohol. Water and fruit juices are good for you. Popcorn is good. You want to find fruit or something you can eat in large portions that won't make you gain weight. I have gained about 45 pounds. Which is still better than smoking. I will worry about the weight, but not right now.I quit smoking last June 15th and quit drinking last July 1st. I have emphysema and I am on oxygen 24/7. My disease continues to worsen. It is not a good way to die. If you have emphysema and quit smoking it doesn't stop the disease, it just slows it down. If I don't get a lung transplant I am doomed.QUIT NOW, DON'T WAIT AS LONG AS I DID. The cigarettes are not worth being hooked to a machine that has to breathe for you.
I don't know if you have tried the Nicotrol Inhaler but that is what my husband used to stop smoking. That was last May and still free of smoke.
I wish you the best of luck on this journey you are about to embark. Good Luck %26 God Speed.
ok firstly you really have to want to give up, dont do it if its someone else pressurising you, it will never work.i gave up 2 years ago, i had gone away on holiday and did not take any away with me and it was america and did not want to smoke lung bleeders, so i just didnt smoke, yes it has been hard since i came home and there have been times where i have smoked.you will find that when you are bored you will want a ciggie, so maybe get up and make a cup of tea, do something to take your mind off it.i always carry mints with me, try not to substitue your craving with sweets, as we all know this will only end in tears as you realise you have put on 10 stone lol. Honestly though if you do things to take your mind of the craving, you will learn to get by.but you have to be in the right frame of mind to stop, never try the whole thing of ok from monday i am stopping or from next month or after this packet, that is all rubbish, do it now break whatever you have and dont look back, no matter how hard it gets, you can do it.try mints, chewing gum, a cup of tea, glass of juice, even channel flicking when you have a craving anything to take your mind off it.

Now i know what it feels like to be 90?

about 4 days ago all muscles in my body became score, espically my stomach muscles. There is now a rather large bump on my neck. Mild score throat ( comes and goes) I cant laugh, cough without my stomach hurting. I have no energy at all, frequent head aches. I sometimes have trouble moving my eyes as well. Appitite is normal, no vomiting. Im 20 yrs old, what could be wrong? Is it approprate tiem for the ER?
Answer:
It sounds very much like infectious mononucleosis (mono). Its a self limiting condition which needs no treatment. That said you DO need to go and see a doctor for proper diagnosis.
Take a look at the link below for more info on mono
Go to the freaking doctor. Don't wait until its to late. That is not normal.
Look, honey , you really must go to a doctor or the ER room right now. Your symptoms are not good. Please go right away.
You might have and im sorry to say thyroid cancer....
yes. Go see your doctor or go the ER. I work in the Health Care feild, and I suggest you going!!!!
~I hope all is well~
Oh my god, definitely go to the ER. It sounds like something is seriously wrong. I mean it, ASAP or you coiuld be making things worse.
Either ER or a walk in clinic to get advice about what to do. i'm sure there is something that can be done to make you more comfortable.
Go! Go!! I repeat GO as fast your legs or whatever can take you and get yourself to an emergency room! Times' a wastin'...........

Now I have a problem and would like to know if anyone else has this disease , I have parkinsons,?

I was wondering if anyone else has this disease, I just diagnosed with it. how do you handle it. do you worry about it. I'm in the early stages so the dr. says, but I'v been experiencing the symptems for the past 6 years and thought I was having a nervous breakdown. I saw several drs. and they dismissed me and prescribed anti-depressants for me, which didn't help, I do get depressed and want to hurt myself sometimes. sometimes i feel like I can't go on.. I have to force myself to get dressed just to go to the store, my tremors are better except when I'm stressed. I walk better too and move my arms better because of the meds. they put me on.. I tire out very easy but because I look healthy, family doesn't understand why I have to rest every day.
Answer:
I am so sorry. It sounds like your doctor need to find some different antidepressents and perhaps therapy. Stress, worry will make tremors worse. It also sound like your family needs to be better educated about your illness. If your doctor is not helpful, find one that is. There are things they can give you to slow the progression of the disease. There are also other treatments that can help with the symptoms. They can do shots of botox in the muscles to ease tremors or even implants to help with them. Are you just going to the regular physician for treatment? You need to see a nuerologist who specializes in Parkinsons treatment and/or movement disorders. There is much they can do to help you preserve the quality of your life. As well as get the support of your family.I would deeply suggest a Parkinsons support group so you can speak with others who are going through the same thing. It's important to have the support of those who don't just say they understand but KNOW exactly what you are facing. You would probably be able to make some friends. It really helped my husband who at 36 has a nueromuscular disease similar to Parkinsons but it also effects his lungs, it's related to his service in the gulf war. Don't overtire yourself. My grandmother who is 95 this month said the key is to realize when you've done a bit and need to rest before you start to feel tired. Shorter rests more often make things easier for her. I understand how you feel that family doesn't 'get' it with your illness. These diseases aren't obvious so people just don't understand how much they effect you. But you can't see a nueromuscular disease all the time, or heart disease, lung disease, etc. And sometimes family is in denial. That has been the case with my husbands Father. They can't see that his lungs don't operate fully and he isn't elligible for a lung transplant because it's the nerves that control the lungs that are the problem so a new set would shut down the same way. They don't get how serious it is and think he is just being lazy. But you can't see a back injury either. Doesn't mean it's not there. I think my husbands Father doesn't want to admit how sick his son really is because he loves him. The same is probably true for your family they are in denial because they love you and it's hard to see you get older, as well as have you ill with something beyond their control. There are pamphets and brochures as well as support groups for family members as well. It's important to your helath that they fully understand and support you. There is a great source through Barrows Nuerological Institute, the Mohammed Ali Parkinsons Research Center. They have a newsletter as well as a fabulous site with research and support information. They may even be able to help you find a better doctor in your area. They may also be able to find you a support group. You don't have to go through this alone. Barrows Nuerological Institute Website:

http://www.maprc.com/home/default.aspx...Don't forget to look into getting your depression under control. No one should live under the cloud of depression. Often you may not respond to the first medication they try. Many times it take a full month to work, but if you don't feel better by then you really need to go back to your doctor. He has no way of knowing you didn't respond unless you go to the doctor. Our doctor also prescribed SAM-e in addition to my husbands anti depressant, it really helped. We get it from CVS. I wish you all the best. I hope that you can get some better treatment, some education, a support group and maybe even some rehabilitation therapy that can help you learn to function with your symptoms.
I just saw a miracle cure through my homeopathic doctor. I can give u his number, u can talk to him.
Hi. I am very sorry for your predicament as well as sorry that the doctors have dismissed your fears. Parkinsons, as with other medically incurable diseases is a hard pill to swallow. I do have a couple of suggestions.a) Take care of your mental health. Do get a counsellor, or contact the local chapter of the national parkinsons foundation (www.apdaparkinson.org). They have people going through the exact same thing that you are, and can provide great support.b) Get your family involved. In order for them to provide better care for you, they need to understand the disease better. Try to get them to scourge the internet for information, or take them to doctor visits, give them information booklets, hammer it in their heads that you are going through a tough time if you have to! No one should go through this alone.c) Ensure that you adhere to your medication regiment. Remember, in order to be effective, there needs to be a certain and constant amount in your body, this includes anti-depressants (which generally tak a couple of weeks to come into effect depending of type)d) Take care of the rest of your health. Continue to mobilise (though it can be difficult, but the alternative...i.e not walking is to my opinion, worse), and eat healthily (the usual 'good' diet).Lastly, don't give up hope. Medical breakthroughs occur on a frequent basis these days. I hope that your days get better.

Now as an adult I get these pimples that leave a mark on my face. Why?

What is the best product out there that will make these dots disappear?
Answer:
An effective treatment for acne scars is hydroquinone. Has to be prescribed by a dermatologist. Also, if you see no improvement from that at the end of 3 months of consistant use, there won't be any effect.

Nose gets stuffy when singing?

I'm a professional singer(meaning I get paid to do gigs) and I've found that the more I sing, the more stuffy my nose becomes. After awhile, I have to blow my nose it gets so bad and then I start the process all over again. Am I not singing properly from my diaphram, or could it be something wrong with my sinuses?
Answer:
Try some Claritin-D or Alavert-D (12 or 24 hour formulation) with the Pseudoephedrine 120mg (nasal decongestant) %26 Loratidine 5mg (antihistamine) they are available without a prescription %26 work very well until you can get to a doctor to see what they suggest.
ever try seeing a doctor?
I'm sure nothing is wrong with your voice because people wouldn't pay you to sing. It must be something wrong with your sinuses.( or however you spell it)
Why don't you go see an ENT? If you are a professional singer,
this isn't something that you can just hope will go away.

Non drug remedy for stress related high blood pressure?

Answer:
Well getting rid of the stress in your life is the obvious answer, but how many of us can do that? Easy to say, not so easy to do. Exercise is one of the best. You don't need any fancy equipment or a gym membership. Just put on your sneakers and go for a walk. Also, get yourself a little fish tank. Sounds crazy I know, but watching fish is relaxing and has been proven to lower blood pressure. Also sounds crazy again, but get yourself a simple craft, like a paint by number (If your not artistic), or a model car or something. Art therapy is very relaxing. Good luck.
Relaxation and deep breathing, meditation, prayer, music, Mild exercise, Reiki, Aromatherapy, Laughter therapy....
Go on the "dash diet". Check your local library.
relaxation techniques... exercise... reducing stress... getting fresh air... doing things you enjoy... keeping a healthy mind set... avoiding anger inducing situations... take up a hobby... eat healthy... reduce alcohol, nicotine, salt...
Drink lots of water.
Stay away from the salt and sodium--read all labels.
Get rid of the stress that is causing it.

Nitrofurantoin & Ciprofloxacin?

Is there any resemblance between Ciprofloxacin %26 Nitrofurantoin? A covering doctor said that it's ok to give Ciprofloxacin to a patient w/ Urinary Tract Infection whose urine culture %26 sensitivity showed that it is sensitive to Nitrofurantoin, but Ciprofloxacin was not in the list of drugs sensitive to the bacteria. He said that it's just the same. Is this true?
Answer:
What list are you referring to?Cipro is an excellent choice. Nitrofurantoins lack the broader tissue distribution of other therapeutic agents approved for urinary tract infections. Consequently, many patients who are treated with nitrofurantoins are predisposed to persistence or reappearance of bacteriuria. Fluoroquinolones such as ciprofloxacin (Cipro) are excellent agents for UTIs caused by Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter cloacae, Serratia marcescens, Proteus mirabilis, Providencia rettgeri, Morganella morganii, Citrobacter diversus, Citrobacter freundii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus saprophyticus, or Enterococcus faecalis.I hope this helps.Rick the Pharmacist
Although this doesn't exactly address your question, I just want to say that in my opinion all of the quinolones (such as Ciprofloxin) should be reserved for only the most resistant of infections, where nothing else is apt to be effective. Many, many people have had severe reactions to this class of drug (me included) ranging from tendon rupture to liver failure to severe heart arrhythmias (as in my case). Yes, Cipro is a highly effective antimicrobial, but it is also highly TOXIC to many people; precisely what makes it so effective against bacteria.
The pharmaceutical companies are pushing the doctors to prescribe these medications for simpler infections that can be cured by older, safer, drugs. Unless you are on your last leg, say NO to quinolones!! I am not anti-doctor, and am grateful to
some wonderful physicians who have treated me. But the simple fact is many do not have the time to study all of potential risks of various medications, relying mainly on the drug reps info.
Many also never mention the potential side-effects when prescribing, thus I feel each of us should do our own study each and every time we are prescribed something we have never used before.FYI -- Cipro and others in its class have a high propensity for causing false positives to heroin (as reported by a study in the Journal of Medicine). Many doctors are unaware of this, so if you have an occupation that requires drug screening, you need to know this.
They are not the same. Ciprofloxacin is a quinolone and it has a broader spectrum of activity than nitrofurantoin.

NitratesI am currently taking Metroprolol Tartrate and Lisinopril for the past 7 years . Will a dose of viagr

a affect these medications in a negative way?
Answer:
dmncsbstn - You doctor should have discussed this with you when he gave you the prescription for Viagra, but I can tell you that in general, it is safe to take Viagra and metoprolol or lisinopril. Viagra will commonly cause a decrease in blood pressure of up to 10mmHg. If you are already taking blood pressure meds (like metoprolol and lisinopril) it will decrease your blood pressure further, but studies have not shown an increase in adverse events when people on blood pressure meds take Viagra. HOWEVER, people with a low blood pressure at baseline (90/50 or lower) were not included in the study so if your blood pressure runs in that range, it would advisable to avoid Viagra. Also, if you are taking nitrates at all, DO NOT TAKE VIAGRA as the combination can cause a profound and prolonged drop in your blood pressure. As always, the best thing to do is to talk to your doctor OR your pharmacist to make sure there are no other drug interactions you need to worry about. While Viagra is usually ok with metoprolol and lisinopril, I don't know if you are on any other medications that could potentially interact with the Viagra.Hope that helps. Stay safe!
If you are on nitrates, viagra will not be a good mix.
You should be asking your doctor about this issue..
Do not take viagra if you are taking nitrates--blood pressure will fall so low you may have a stroke, go blind or even die.

Nicotine Withdrawal!! Help me!! What should i Do, its been almost a day since i quit smoking, and i need one!!

Answer:
Ok, first off you -bleeps- who are taunting him with starting again, you can just go and hammer another nail in your coffin.Bastards...Anyways hun, take some deep breaths and tell yourself over and over that your making the choice to quit.I would sugest joining a "quitting smoking site" as soon as you can. They'll have a TON of support, people to talk to when the cravings get bad, and they'll have tons of tricks that you can use. Heck thats how I quit! Almost a year now without a single slip!Trust me hun, YOU CAN DO IT!!
why would you want to quit smoking? have a cig. *takes a puff*you want a drag? you know you want it.
Everytime you want one, tell yourself You might Want in but you don't NEED it. You can beat it
Try the nicotine patches for 3 or 4 weeks.
Eat some hard candy.
just hang in there in a few days the craving will be less. DON"T light one up, you can do it. You'll live longer smelll better and save money
brush your teeth
why would you want to quit smoking? have a cig.
really after one day your already begging for a cig talk about no will power. Try gum or patches
here's what you should do. Go to a Hospital and look at all the people struggling just to breathe, ...something most people do all day long without even thinking about it.Look at those people who are dying of lung cancer and emphysema. Then realize how important it is to not slowly destroy your lungs with those ciggarettes.
Go to the grocery store in the candy aisle and purchase TONS of lolipops. Also go down the toy aisle and purchase some playdough or "floam" Now when you feel the urge to light one up shove a loli into your mouth and work the playdoug/floam with your hands. Believe it or not it works...plus the working of the playdough exercises your hands and eases repetetive stress syndrome/carpal tunnel.
Lolly pops, find something to do with your hands. Rearrange a closet you can do it think about all that money you will save and what you are going to do with it! Clean the house, wash the walls (you'd be surprised what smoke gets into and lingers on. Good Luck!
i wish i had a magic word for you but i don't. try to keep busy. exercise, walk, even dance. if it's the emotional issue ask your doc for some help. tell yourself how well you've done so far. an entire day. thats quite an accomplishment. you're doing great. try a stop smoking group. many hospitals offer them for free. i'm rootin' for you. keep it up.
both my dad and my brother quit.
dad got sick and 4 days later, when he got well enough, he realized that he could quit.
and he did.my brother just quit, cold turkey.
none of us though he'd be able to do it.
but he did.
first time, cold turkey.
and he was particularly dependent on them.
at the time, it was just worth it.gum, lolly pops, whatever.
know that after the first few days, it really does get easier.you could go the nicorette route, and if that's the only option, then you should.
on the other hand, if you can make it, it'll be an achievement you'll remember for the rest of your life.
Hang in there, it does get easier. Hard candies, chew on straws, healthy snacks, also find something to keep yourself busy. May, will be two years for me. I used the Smoke Away product and it worked for me. I stopped smoking and stopped taking the pills with in three days. Check out these two sites. I belong to the group at the smoke away site. There is a lot of good reading there if you like.
Good luck.

New on Accutane...HELP!?

I just started taking Accutane one week ago and so far my skin is looking better each day...so I guess my question is that is it going to continue this way..or will that flare up everyone talks about eventually hit me? Or not? Also, What moisturizer is good? Because my skin is realllly flaky right now...I'm on 80 mg a day, my doctor wanted a higher dose for me, should I increase to the higher dose next month or stay here? I am afraid that this dose might not be strong enough. Please give me all your help, ideas, and suggestions!!
Answer:
i was on accutane as a teenager, and in my experience it did get worse before it got better. I had very bad acne, and the accutane made it look worse by badly drying out my skin. i got nose bleeds all the time because of the dryness as well. it was NOT fun. But in the long run my acne cleared up and never came back. I almost never even get the occasional zit. and I have been off it for like 15 years. just stick it out and listen to your doctor, hopefully you have the same success i did. as far as moisturizers,,, i don't really know, but i would get something water based
idk
you are still at the start of your treatment. usually the outburst occurs during the first month and it takes a while for it to clear (around one month). Some people get a severe outburst and others dont. A good skin moisturizer is Exfoliac reconstructive cream. it is tested on skin under isotretoin treatment and its very effective. dont forget to protect your skin from the sun because your skin is more prone for sunburn now. Use vaseline for ur lips. its the best. drink a lot of water to hydrate ur kidneys. control your diet so that you wont have cholesterol problems. The dose should be decided by your dermatologist depending on your weight, your lab tests and the medication effect on you.

New Discovery About Cell Division and Cancer?

I was searching the internet and I came across this article, about how Weizmann Institute scientists discovered genes that can slow cell division and may fight cancer. Check it out. Let me know what you think. Thanks. Here's the link:http://www.innovations-report.de/html/be...
Answer:
These types of discoveries are made all the time. I would love if these discoveries lead to effective applications but, it's much too early to get too excited.
Good information. There is so much in the pipe line regarding cancer.
As you might know many ppl that have non cureable cancer at this point in time have treatable cancer and live a very good long life. That has been the biggest changes in 20 yrs. The 5 yrs marker has increased three fold.
This happens all the time, and the AMA and FDA are even now preventing Americans from using proven cancer cures that the rest of the world is using. In 1990, I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma, stage 3-B, but I've survived. My doctors were great people, but they were limited to surgery, chemo and radiation by profitable AMA treatment policy. During the year in treatment, I started learning about alternative medicine. I'm a retired engineer, and this is what I've pieced together--our IMMUNE SYSTEMS become weakened by poor nutrition, lack of exercise and reduced oxygen. Once that happens, our body becomes vulnerable to common STRESSORS. Stressors can be environmental, like viruses, heavy metals, pesticides, food additives, electromagnetic waves or pollution. They can be internal things like emotional or job stress, or poisonous people in our lives. Aging is also a contributing factor. So this means: WEAK IMMUNE SYSTEM + STRESSORS = DISEASE (cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc.) Our bodies have 60 trillion--yes, trillion--cells, and there are always some mutating into cancer cells, but a healthy immune system kills them before they have a chance to get a foothold in the body.

It takes a LONG time, usually, or a high level of stressors, to weaken the immune system to the point where it won't do its job, but once cancer has formed, it will generally spread rapidly.THIS IS IMPORTANT! There are ways to BEAT cancer that are currently being used in Europe and around the world, and there are some great books on the subject. I know because I've read about 50 of them from cover to cover. Here's a list of the best ones. Some are out of print and getting hard to find--"The Cure for All Cancers", ISBN 0963632825
"The Cure for All Advanced Cancers", ISBN 1890035165
"A Cancer Therapy", ISBN 0882681052
"Oxygen Therapies", ISBN 0962052701
"Hydrogen Peroxide--Medical Miracle", ISBN 1885236077
"The Natural Cure for Cancer--Germanium", ISBN 0533071410
"Killing Cancer", ISBN 0705000966
"Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You to Know About", ISBN 0975599518I know of people whose cancer has 'spontaneously remitted' (WENT AWAY for no known reason) AFTER they went on programs of herbs and nutrition to restart their immune systems. You and your family must look out for yourselves to stand a chance of being healthy. This is not a joke, and I'm not selling anything--just trying to help.
I am using the things I learned in those books right now to fight off a second infestation of cancer. I've been at it for over a year now, and think I'm going to make it. Use what works for you, and pass on your success. Best of luck.AMA AND FDA--
The American Medical Association (AMA) and the pharmaceutical companies control medical law and the FDA in this country with heavy lobbying and a revolving door policy. WHY would they want to do this? It's about the money. In 2006, medicine (doctors, hospitals, researchers and pharmaceutical firms) received 2.1 TRILLION dollars--15% of the total earnings (GNP 13.7 trillion) in the U.S. This is astounding! It means MILLIONS of people worked the whole year just to pay the nation's medical expenses!! That's totally astounding, and just too big to care about individuals.

Neurovirus spread by pheasent's?

Answer:
It depends; if the virus is aggresive enough such that it is communicable (highly transmittable, so to speak), then a community where people are in close proximity for contact are at risk of such an viral infection. Much like bubonic plague or leptospirosis being spread by infected wild rodents to people.Of course, there are other factors to consider, but the main idea is that a highly transmittable virus can and does have the ability to infect people faster--and this is only the transmission aspect and not yet the pathogenesis itslef.
i dont think so.

Neuron+ question?

One patient with diabetic neuropathy walked on a broken ankle for two weeks without knowing it. Others, unknowingly, have foot ulcers (bleeding sores) on the soles of their feet. What type of neuron is damaged in this patient?
Answer:
It's called distal axonopathy. The nerves literally die and there's no feeling, so the patients don't even know there's a problem.
yes..Peripheral neuropathy causes either pain or loss of feeling in the toes, feet, legs, hands, and arms...

Neuro Dr diagnosed as Polymyositis, advised 6 prednisone 5 mg daily.Prednisolone 10mg is available. Is it OK.?

I am suffering from Muscles weakness disease. Symptoms are difficulty in climbing stairs/hilly path even with support, More pressure is felt in eyelids %26 fingers movement. The effect is more in right side, specially right leg above knee. Not in a position stand for more time. Even in plain area, after walking 50m, need rest.
Answer:
If you take them all at the same time then you should be fine taking 3 of the 10mg as the total amount will be the same.
Check with your pharmacist before making a sound and informed decision.
Your doctor would be OK, but your body not.
check if the tablet is scored in the middle. if it is then its ok to use 1/2. If not look for 5mg.
You definitely need to take 5mg if that is what your doctor ordered. If you've never taken Prednisone before, you don't know how you will react to it. Prednisone is not a medication to alter dosing instructions. So, please take the 5mg as was suggested to you.
Prednisone is a steroid used in the treatment in many autoimmune diseases. With a host of side effects moon face, weight gain from fluid and constant cravings. If you have been prescribed 6 prednisone tablets at 5 mg, I'm guessing you mean 30 mg daily, you can take 3 tablets at 10 mg, and get the same results. There is only one difference in the tablet formation, which is 5 mg tablets contain mineral oil in the make of the tablet and 10 mg tablets do not. As for the effectiveness it is the same. Remember to take this medication at the same time daily, morning is the best, since it makes you hyper and unable to sleep, and also DO Not miss a dose. Prednisone affects the Adrenal Gland and you can go into adrenal shock if you stop taking it suddenly or without being weened off. (There is only one exception, and you can not be on prednisone prior, taken in high dosage for one week only and then discontinued immediately). Your prescribed amount is fairly high to my knowledge, I know of patients taking 1mg to 5 mg daily, but also I have been on high dosages of 50 mg to 60 mg daily and weened down slowly. Talk to the Pharmacist when you pick up your presciption.
New here...I was looking to help people that have Lupus, as we have recently started a new site in Oz, but came across your question. My hubby takes a large does of Prenisolone, and it is REALLY important that you only take the dose indicated by your doctor. This medication needs to be weaned down after use, so taking the 5mg is the lowest does you can take, and so it is not advisable that you start taking 10mg.Try buying one of those tablet cutters and cutting it in half.Hope that helps :-)
My first thought is that your doctor prescribed your Prednisone 5mg this way so the dose could be tapered down. For example, I have seen prescriptions written where the patient takes 6 prednisone 5mg on day 1, then tapers down by 1 tablet a day until the med is finished. When you pick up your medication, talk to the pharmacist. Make sure you understand the directions and any possible side effects.

Neon Green Vomit!?

My husband works on the river. The other day he was doubled over with pain coming from his lower back to his middle abdomen. He was also vomiting neon green crap. I took him to the ER and they didn't give us any idea to what the problem may be. They said he has a blockage in his small intestines and to go see his regular doctor. The pain has went away some but now he has black under his eyes. Anybody have any ideas on this? He is not running a feaver and the symptoms I listed are the only ones he has! Cant get into see regular doctor for a few days! Should I be worried, and what could be the problem. He also has stopped the vomiting.
Answer:
Does his doctor understand that a diagnosis of intestinal blockage has been made? This is a very serious condition that people die from. I'm glad to hear that he's feeling better but that doctor should have made seeing your husband a priority. You can take your husband to a gastroenterologist.
Wow, call doctor House.... Have your husband take it easy until the doctor appointment. You may want to plug the symptoms in WebMD and see what pops up.
I would be worried. What river does he work on? Maybe they have nuclear waste runoff into that river. I know some rivers in Illionis have that problem. I don't mean to freak you out but I would take his neon green vomitting very seriously. See a doctor as soon as possible. I'm suprised an emergency room doctor couldn't give you better answers.
The neon green was bile. His stomach got so empty that it started emptying out what was below the stomach, in the duodenum. If he is not vomiting any more then he is probably okay. I've been that sick before with just a stomach virus. I would still see his regular doctor for the eye thing. If you really feel he needs to see a doctor right away, find him another doctor or call his doc and tell them how worried you are. Insist that he be seen. Follow your instincts. Better safe than sorry.
Green = Bile (bile is from gallbladder).Black could be just from him being tired if he didnt get any sleep.Go to an urgent care center/clinic if you feel like you really need to.

Need suggestions for ridding my home of allergens.?

I have many, many allergies...including pet hair and pollen. With that said, I have a dog that is shedding a lot right now. I live in Florida and the pollen is SUPER BAD this year. I try to vacuum and dust often, but it's not seeming to help. It would be ideal to open the windows to let the house air out, except that I'm allergic to the pollen outside too. It's not an option to get rid of the dog, so what else can I do? Please help! I can't breath!!
Answer:
If you have carpets, get rid of them. They hold a lot of allergens. Don't sleep with the dog in your bed. Sleep with an allergenic cover over your pillow. Wash your bedding frequently especially if the dog has been on it. The same with any covers on your furniture that can be washed. If not, vacuum very well and often. I don't know what you can do with the pollen except to stay indoors a lot. Are you taking any allergy meds? If not, take an over the counter one or see your doctor for a prescription.
You can purchase both room and house air purifiers. Honeywell brand are excellent products. The drawback is that the filters can get expensive. You could also get the better 3M furnace filters. They are called Filtrete, and will take out as much as 99% of all impurities out of the air. You would need a furnace that you can leave the fan motor on though. The drawback to them, is that you must change them every month. Furnace repair persons, and installers hate them because they know that most people will not change them once a month like they should. Instead most people see that they are advertised as a filter that can last up to 3 months long. The problem with their statement is that it is true, but they fill up with "fluff" faster than the traditional filters. Here in Minnesota I use the "Red" Filtretes during the winter when it is dog and dust time of year, but pollen is not an issue when it is below zero, and the "Purple" Filtretes during the spring and summer when the pollen attacks my wife. She has bad allergies AND athsma, and so we have to have something effective all year long too. (Or else I'd have to put her out of her misery.) Leave your furnace / central air unit's fan on all the time and you will see a marked decrease in "Fluffies" within a couple of months.

Need some medical advice scared.?

For the past week I have had liquid stool going from a dark green to a bright yellow.Sevier cramps. When I go to the bathroom I get weak and light headed. Not running a feaver but fell very hot I mean all of a suddan I start to sweet even when it is cold outside. And sevier heart burn.Help what should I do?Thanks
Answer:
It sounds like you have a case of the abdominal flu. Here's what you should try. BRAT diet. Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast. That will add some bulk to your stool so it won't be so watery and won't rush through your system. You poop is yellow because it's moving out of your intestines so quickly.Stop ALL dairy products. Make sure you're getting enough fluids. No soda, unless it's very flat....like ginger ale or possibly some flat coke, watered down. Nothing with caffeine.Have you taken anything like Immodium? That will help with the cramps and the diarrhea. The cramping is what is making you weak and light-headed. If you have a bug, or perhaps something like a parasite or some other infection, you want to get rid of it, so may not want to take any of those meds. Your best action would be to call the doctor and give a stool specimen. They can check it for anything unusual, like a parasite, etc..
Go to the doctor immediately.
have you tried a doctor???
See the doc and get this checked out ASAP. You may be getting dehydrated and you have something going on but need to get it checked out. Head to urgent care or ER and get checked.
Make an appointment to see an gastroenterologist--ASAP.
You need to see a physician and have some labs done on the stool I soounds like a parasitic infection. They will likely look for c.difficile and maybe salmonella. Be prepared to be able to supply a sample.
sounds like food poisoning - go to emergency
Green and yellow tells me that it may be a liver problem like Hepatitis! Yes, go see a doctor and hopefully, if it is Hepatitis, it is a strain that there is a vaccine for.
this is not normal. get to the ER for blood and stool tests. you may need antibiotics and/or IV fluids for dehydration. call a friend or 911 to drive you.

Need Hypurin Pork Insulin?

from Uk but living in US ...trying to get Hypurin ...I cannot take human insulin but cannot afford $250 per month to purchase from canada . I want to see if there is another option to get Hypurin
Answer:
Are you living perminantly in the US? Is there any way that you can be prescribed insulin by a uk dr and someone can post it to you? (a frio pack could keep it cool in the post or you could find out about corriers). Other than that I'm sorry I don't know, but you have my sympathy - I react badly to humalog but not novorapid - if novorapid was no longer available I don't know what I'd do but I know I'd be despirate and panicing! Putting up with insulin that you react badly to is not a viable option as I'm sure you know! I hope you find a way to do it - try the american diabetes association web site. Good luck xx
look up .www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines
I'm not sure that's a good idea.
23
Why cant you take human insulin? There are several types out there and it won't take long to figure out the dose.

Need help with viruses please. How are viruses spread? Thank you so much!!!?

How are viruses spread? Why should people get vaccinated? When should I get vaccinated, or should I at all?
Answer:
They are spread in any way. Touching anything (everything) that has germs. They, are in the air, when someone sneezes, coughs, shakes hands, touches things, etc..They can be spread through food, if it is not cooked properly, Or even if someone eats/ drinks something, and then you do, you can get it. Vaccines help build a resistance against diseases, virus, etc., when you get shots, you bodys immune system is strong enough to fight it or not get it. Check with a doctor or Health Dept. on the ages to get vaccines, just like babies, they have to have them at certain months, years old.
many are airborn and vaccinations help the body build ammunity to them. vaccinations are fall-winter usually
they spread by touching it, breathing it in, drinking from another's glass, etc....wash your hands alot to help! that is the biggest help
I had a Dr. friend tell me that when someone tells you you have a viral infection (NOT HIV) they are saying they're out of ideas. Viruses are airborne, or can be transmitted in a number of other ways, as I'm sure you know, but I suspect we carry them around all the time, then, when our immune system takes a hit, like lack of rest, over exposure to the cold and so on, BANG! Keep fit, get your rest, take a good multiple vitamin and forget the shots!

Need help refilling lotion?

i have a vaseline travel pack size lotion and i also have the large bottle. i want to put some lotion from the large bottle into the travel pack size but the hole looks kinda small? is there anyway i can do it?
Answer:
is it a push top lotion bottle? if so pop it open and put some in the travel size one. and if you don't have that take the bigger bottle raise it higher in the air so when you do pour it you really won't get a mess and do it slow and you shouldn't have a problem or you could use a spoon like u was filling mustard up. i would use a spoon if you don't want to use the other one or have a lid like that. it should be mess free. never have problem doing it like that. you will get the hang of that. hope that helps
Funnel?
Hi,
there are travel size bottels that have a wide opening they are sold empty and can always be refilled easily. However if you wanna refil the one you have use the bottel with a small opening to fill it like the opening on the top of the shampoo ....did you get what I mean?
the cap does come off, I have the same thing, just pull hard and give a little twist and the blue cap should come off!

Need Help please. Asthma or allergies?

Do I have asthma or what? 2 years ago my doctor said I have mild asthma. Up until then I never had any asthma symptoms. I am here now because I need a medical doctor or nurse to advise. I woke up this morning with this weird feeling in my chest like a coldness and it makes me cough at times...which sounds slightly wheezy. I did open up the windows lastight and turn the fans on because it was so hot I had to cool the house down. So, is this seasonal asthma or something? I'm uncomfortable. Can someone please help. Thank you.
Answer:
You need to consult a doctor. Any advice on here is just that, advice, not a diagnosis.
Let a medical doctor check you out. Could be asthma.
You need to see a specialist, not an ordinary doc.
You need to see a pulmonary specialist. this could be serious and he can help.
Like someone else said, things on here are advise only - not any sort of medical diagnosis. That being said, here is my advice to you: Make an appointment with your primary care physician. Your physician may refer you to an internist, allergist, or pulmonologist. But, a general, Family Practice Physician can treat you for asthma. Now, from my medical experience, I can tell you that wheezing and a cold/tight feeling in your chest is a symptom of asthma. Check out: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/print...Best of Luck and I hope this information helps!
i was also diagnosed with mild asthma when i was a child and never had symptoms..but there's a time that i had a really had a bad cough and difficulty breathing..and the doctor told me that it was the mild asthma..so i think yours too could be a seasonal attack of your mild asthma. but seeing the doctor is still the best thing to do..^_^
There was a progamme on TV here in Australia a few nights ago where some researchers had gathered evidence to suggest that some sulphur compounds used for preserving food might have caused an increase in the number of asthma sufferers, These sulphurs are used particularly in dried fruits such as apricots for preservation purposes. Some canny mums had got together and eliminated sulphur compounds from their children's diets (sorry sweetheart, no more dried apricots) and a lot of them got better.
You sound like me. I have asthma that is triggered by allergies. You need to visit a doctor to get an inhaler to stop your wheezing. I am currently taking Singular and Zyrtec. You can't buy one of those over the counter inhalers either, they really don't work as well as the prescription. Find a doctor, because asthma can be life threatening. If you do have an attack, drink some coffee, it will cause the vessels around your lungs and throat to constrict so you can breathe easier. Good luck.

Need help for MS treatment?

Iam a 30 yeard old diagnosed with RRMS. 1st attack came 4 years back which recovered later on. Now having slight limping while walking and climbing stairs. Any advice on treatment/ recommended hospitals/doctors?
Answer:
Hyperbaric Chambers have been proven to help MS symptoms. Eighty percent of participants reported complete remission of symptoms after treatment. 20% had partial remission and 10% had no change. They are a bit expensive but is starting to be covered by come insurances.
Though this is controversial, I know people who swear on marijuana for its medical purposes. I know someone with MS who swears when she was in Amsterdam she could walk normally again. There are some states where you can legally obtain marijuana.
Boost Your Glutathione levels naturally.

Need advice on how to tolerate and care for remitting recurring MS family member.?

Is MS responsible for their bad behavior? Should I give constructive criticism to help them with addictive behavior. (improper use of meds and alcohol).
Answer:
This improper behavior could have been the cause of the MS, which cause is still unknown. Nothing is sure about that disease. If ever you would like to do something you should convince that person to get out GRADUALLY from that bad habits. You could advise him or her to be more at fresh air, and to often ventilate her house and bedroom. Let him eat nutritious food, specially parsley and tomatoes, and sleep sufficiently.
While MS has lots of wierd and very strange side-effects, there are ways to tolerate people with MS. One thing is to consider how they feel, if they have no support, they are probably coping in the only way they know how. Two, if they have no belief in a higher power (GOD) then there is no point to there life, pain, suffering. If they have a God then you need to ask them why they are on the planet in the first place. To be self-absorbed, (that's pride) ? Or to be self-giving? To find peace and tranquility?Three, Alcohol does the same thing as MS it kills brain cells, ask them how fast they want their disease to go and if you can help by getting them a beer. Do you live in a state that has legal Medicail Marajana? Pot has show to be helpful in MS before and they are doing, studies to see how that is accomplished.Talk to them, comfort them, take them to church and show genuine concern, having an incurable disease that might eat you away is not an easy thing to come to terms with.

Need a lot of help?

how do you stop acne from home made masks
Answer:
well i'm not sure if this one we'll work but i've heard putting oatmeal masks on your face work:
First, clean your face with water only. Never use soap. You can open your pores with hot compresses (washcloth) For a facial scrub, moisten oatmeal to a "goo", use it to scrub your face (not around your eyes). Wash off with cool water. You may also make a paste of the oatmeal and allow it to dry..remove with cool water. You may also beat an egg white, put it on your face and let it dry, rinse with cool water. Sliced fresh cucumber placed on your closed eyes will reduce bagginess and dark circles.
you dont ,,, i no that isint what you wanted to hear but its a fact
uh wash yout fsce every night duh
eat no acids and no pop. Drink a lot of water. use the white of an egg, let it stay on your face till ids really dry. Rinse it off and use nothing greasy on your face. Use nivea. Do the egg thing twice a week. Good luck.

NCLEX-RN Question? Can you answer this question if knowing its your responsibility to get it correct?

The nurse notes that the infusion bag of a client receiving TPN as become empty. The nurse calls the pharmacy, but the next bag will not be delivered for another 30 minutes. The nurse should plan to hang which of the following solutions until the TPN arrives?
1) 5% dextrose in water
2) 10 % dextrose in water
3) 50% dextrose in water
4) 5% lactated Rinbger's
5) Stop the infusion until the TPN arrives
Okay nursing students this is a typical question ask on your state boards. Whats the answer and why?If you would like my wife who has a Masters in Nursing to continue to make these kinds of posts please answer yes or no.
Answer:
no guyes, answer is 2, the 10 % dextrose in water. it's given to prevent hypoglycemia.
um, i wanna say 5 but then i don't think that would be a very good question. so, i'll go with the 5% D in water. it is a standard isotonic solution. would keep the patient going for a little while.
and yes!
I would say, stop the infusion, until the TPN arrives. Because, there was nothing in the question about an order for any other supplemental IV.Please continue to post questions like these.
I need a lot of help with answering questions. DESPERATELY

Nauseous all the time?????????

I feel nauseous all the the time. I was just looking for some opionions on what could be causing this. Im not pregnant. I do take prilosec for frequent heartburn. I was dignoised with gastritis a few years ago. the start of a ulcer. Im not sure if thats the problem or could it be another stomach disorder. Is ther anythign that will help with it? Any advice is welcome. Thanks
Answer:
i have a real bad ulcer and most of the times i throw up i throw up blood and i am nauseous all the time, so yes i would say it is your ulcer most likely if that is what your doc diagnosed you with....i also take prilosec but there are others that may help you deal better with the nauseousness
Blood sugar levels are outta wack, Check it out with your DR if you have other medical problems.
you should go to your doctor that's the best bet espically since you are taking meds your doctor should be able to tell you what's up
Read the book: you're not sick, you're thirsty. You can read the water cure on the web or the apple cider vinegar cures websites. These sites should answer all your questions.
See a doctor! It might be a side effect of your prilosec but I don't know. Your problem could be related to a stomach disorder.
do you know the side effects of the meds you are taking?
If they don't include nausea maybe you meds have to be changed
because your ulcer might be getting worse. It could also be what you are ingesting....try to keep a journal
for a few weeks and jot down everytime you feel nauseous and
what you did or ate just before that. You may be able to solve
the problem easily.....if this doesn't help you may need some more
G.I. series workup. see a doctor while doing the above.
I did the same thing. It ended up being an ulcer. Absolutely miserable. Let your doctor know. There are a lot of different options to treat it. First you need to know that's what it is.
You are nauseated, not nauseous.
Hi, I have no medical experience but I have had medications for ulcers over the years. I am not familiar with taking Prilosec, but a lot of medications that help the stomach and digestive system, also can aggravate the stomach and digestive system. Prilosec can make you feel sick.
Perhaps you should consult your doctor and get another type of medication for heartburn?
I really watch what I eat - especially acids in tomatoes, strawberries etc.; I don't go to bed if I have just eaten, etc. May I suggest you check some internet sites on other things to help? If you check under "acid reflux" etc. I am sure there would be some good suggestions.
Now, I just take a Rolaid or Tums when necessary... best of luck
My doctor told me that people that have problems with their gall bladders usually come in initially because of nausea...extreme nausea.Sometimes they have no other complaints except that. If it is your gall bladder you will more than likely be really tender right below your breast on your right side. Good luck in finding the problem!!

Nature's Cure? I'm frying here!?

Acne!!! Geesh! So I've tried everthing you can possible think of from Proactive (irritated skin/broke out more) Clean %26Clear (dried out my skin) to Netrogena (didn't help my oily skin)...
Now I heard of Nature's cure...
Has anyone tried it?
Answer:
you are better off to use a antibacterial soap to wash your face really good and if necessary use clearasol
i havn't heard of it, but see the pattern: these man-made products aren't working! what you should do is wash your face a few times every day with a gentle soap (like dove) and then mositurize well before going to bed - and i don't mean those nice-smelling kids of lotions - use good ones like aveeno or jergens(actually, when my brother had skin problems, his doctor recommended aveeno...it worked for him!)also, avoid touching your face with your hands or anything thing else - the dirt/oil is just transferred to your face =D
Go to your dermotologist and ask about accutane. This will clear it up your acne. In the meantime, try Panoxyl Bar 10% soap, you can find this at most drugstores. Wash face with cold or cool water always, Never hot. And use an oil free moisturizer, like Cetaphil.
Good Luck to you.
I haven't tried that, but I have heard that products with salicytic(sp?) acid (derived from aspirin) work best and are not supposed to be as drying to the face as products that contain benzoyle peroxide. For general cleansing, and I have really sensitive skin, I use Cetaphil ('gentle cleansing') liquid soap, and it doesn't irritate my skin at all (knock wood ;) I had tried dove a long time ago, but it always seemed to dry out my skin. I suppose that everyone's body chemistry and amount of histamine released due to certain substances are different.
Hey, I've tried Nature's Cure a few years back before. It's basically a duo-set of benzoyl peroxide spot treatment cream and pills you take a couple times a day. I'm not sure how it would work out on you, so I suppose it's worth a try, as everyone's skin is different and different treatments work for different people, but it didn't do much for my skin, and sometimes made my break out more. You should consult a dermatologist, who can help you find the perfect method of acne treatment and prevention for your skin type. Or you could keep on trying different systems; I'm sure something will work for you sooner or later. Just remember that sometimes you need to mix up systems and combine products instead of using just one brand at one time. Good luck!
Contact these people ... http://www.rosacea-remedy.com/acne.html...
They're apparrently starting a volunteer trial with their acne intense treatment oil.
See if they're stilllooking for people because undiluted sea buckthorn oil is pretty potent stuff. I've been using it for a few months now and my skin is the best it's been in years. Read up about it on their homepage.
It sounds like you have the same triple whammy that I do - oily skin prone to breakouts, but it is also sensitive skin. That makes it very tricky trying to find skincare products to treat one problem without adding to the other, doesn't it?You may want to give Murad a try. Since you didn't respond very well to the benzoyl peroxide in the Proactiv, you may fare better with the salycilic acid in Murad products. Those two medicines have completely different actions - the benzoyl peroxide kills the p-acnes bacteria, while the salicylic acid encourages the cellular turnover needed to clear the skin. (If memory serves, I believe the Nature's Cure lotion is benzoyl peroxide based....if you didn't fare well with it in Proactiv, you probably won't do well with it in this product. But double check me on that - it's been awhile!)One word of caution though: Don't use the kit specifically for acne - this will probably be too drying for you. Instead, order the kit for sensitive skin, and spot treat with their acne lotion. (I THINK the website is called www.murad.com, but you can do a search to be sure) I suffer from rosacea, acne, and super sensitive skin, but I can use their products with great results.Several good websites for information on acne and oily skin: www.dermadoctor.com (you can look for articles and product recommendations by skin condition), or www.sageskincare.com. I use the latter website to locate cosmetics and haircare products that are "safe". (In other words, they don't contain any acnegenic ingredients) They also have a list of ingredients to avoid - you can never memorize it all, but being familiar with the most common ones has saved me purchasing skin or haircare products that would cause me additional problems.Something else - food DOES matter. Avoid foods, beverages or vitamins containing iodide or iodine. This will cause acne to flare in a MAJOR way. (Think shellfish, ingredients in health foods like kelp or carregeenan (also in many ice creams). energy drinks such as Dr. Enuf, etc) Also steer clear of things high in acid - like pickles or orange juice from concentrate. (Oranges are great for you - processed orange juice may not be.)Use moderation and the common sense God gave you, and you should see tremendous improvement in your complexion. Good luck!

Natural way to stop hayfever and asthma?

Is there a natural way to stop hayfever and asthma or to stop sneezing? I have had enough of it.
Answer:
I have had severe asthma and allergies ever since the age of three. I used to spend every other week in the hospital and I have been treated by more asthma and allergy doctors than I could possibly count. I am now 28 and can tell you that, sometimes, the only way to manage your asthma and allergies is by finding the right combination of medications and etc. from a doctor that specializes in such things. For me, Singulair has been the only medicine that ever worked much for my asthma. I also take Clarinex for my allergies. Last of all, I keep my inhalers and nebulizer around for emergencies. I also tried to find a natural cure for asthma at one point, before I found meds that worked well, but none of it ever worked. There is a book that I came across that might be exactly what you are looking for. It is called "Reversing Asthma", by Richard N. Firshein, D.O. The book outlines a program for asthmatics that allow many of them to manage their asthma without meds by changing their lifestyle. Although it didn't work for me, I still found it a very fascinating read. Good luck!
Yes there is! Finally someone that has had enough! I used to have hayfever and allergies to everything, but the worse part was getting asthmatic due to all that. I thought I was going to die on numerous occasions. I had enough. It was not easy. I found. How bad do you want to find. Of course these are things I am not supposed to say. I will get shunned for it. All the people that are brainwashed by there trusting doctor do not agree. Doctors dont know. So I will answer you like this. Yes you can heal your allergies and your asthma! If you really want to. How bad do you want it??The key word is YOU can heal it!! For good!!
Of course all your answers will consist of the following.
1. There is no cure for these conditions and all you can do is control them.
2. Doctors do not know yet.
3 Science has not figured it out yet.
4. My friend said no
5. Watch out for quacks, ( quacks by the was originally used for doctors)
Do you really believe all these statements? You do? Then you have already lost the fight. You dont, well then your on the right path.Henry ford once said; Whether you feel you can or you cant, you are right!!
asthma can be life threatening and should be followed by a doctor.
There are natural products been marketed, you need to give them time to work. You need to change diet and activities. I can introduce you.

Sleep Apnea - Treatment OverviewTreatment for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) includes lifestyle changes, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) (to prevent the airway from closing during sleep), and surgery. The goals of treatment are to relieve symptoms such as snoring and excessive daytime sleepiness and prevent other problems, such as high blood pressure. Your doctor will base your treatment on how severe your sleep apnea is.Generally, your doctor will have you try lifestyle changes and CPAP first. Surgery is an option only if these do not work. You may need to be treated for other health problems before you are treated for sleep apnea. For example, people who also have infections need to take antibiotics. People who have an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) need to take thyroid medicine.Children have the same treatment options as adults. However, surgery (tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy) generally is the first choice because enlarged tonsils or adenoids cause most cases of sleep apnea in children. Children are treated using CPAP if surgery is not possible or does not work.
Initial treatmentThe first treatment for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) consists of making lifestyle changes. These include: * Losing weight (if needed). Small studies have indicated that losing weight reduces the number of times per hour you stop breathing (apnea) or breathe very slowly (hypopnea).4 Experts agree that weight loss should be a component of managing sleep apnea.4
* Going to bed at the same time every night.
* Sleeping on your side. Try sewing a pocket in the middle of the back of your pajama top, putting a tennis ball into the pocket, and stitching it shut. This will help keep you from sleeping on your back. Sleeping on your side may eliminate mild sleep apnea.5
* Avoiding the use of alcohol and some medicines, especially sleeping pills and sedatives, before bed.
* Quitting smoking. The nicotine in tobacco relaxes the muscles that keep the airways open. If you don't smoke, those muscles are less likely to collapse at night and narrow the airways.
* Raising the head of your bed 4 in. to 6 in. by putting bricks under the legs of the bed. Using pillows to raise your head and upper body will not work.
* Promptly treating breathing problems, such as a stuffy nose caused by a cold or allergies. All people who have sleep apnea should make these lifestyle changes. They may be all that is needed to relieve mild sleep apnea. Some people use nasal strips, which widen the nostrils and improve air flow. Although these strips may decrease snoring, they cannot treat sleep apnea.
First medical treatmentContinuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is nearly always the first medical treatment for sleep apnea. * In CPAP, you use a breathing device that prevents your airways from closing during sleep.
* CPAP is the preferred treatment for moderate or severe sleep apnea.
* It may take time for you to be at ease when you use CPAP. You may find that you want to take the mask off, or you may find it difficult to sleep while using it. If you cannot get used to it, talk to your doctor. You might be able to try another type of mask or make other adjustments.Other medical treatment includes: * Devices that are similar to CPAP. These devices automatically adjust air pressure or use different air pressures when you breathe in or out. They are easier and more comfortable for some people to use.
* Oral breathing devices. These devices reposition your tongue and jaw during sleep, which opens up your airways.Surgery might be the first treatment when a blockage can be fixed easily, such as when you have overly large tonsils.
Ongoing treatmentOngoing treatment for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) includes using continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) or an oral breathing device and making changes in your lifestyle. Lifestyle changes include losing weight (if needed), improving sleep habits (such as going to bed at the same time every night and sleeping on your side), avoiding the use of alcohol and certain medicines (especially sleeping pills and sedatives) before bed, and stopping smoking. If CPAP is not working, you may need another sleep study to find out whether your CPAP machine needs to be adjusted. You may also need to think about surgery. Surgical choices include: * Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, which removes excess tissue in the throat to make the airway wider. It is the most common surgery to treat sleep apnea in adults.
* Tonsillectomy and/or adenoidectomy, which removes the tonsils and/or the adenoids. It may be used if you have enlarged tonsils and adenoids that are blocking your airway during sleep. This is often the first treatment option for children because enlarged tonsils and adenoids are usually the cause of their sleep apnea.
* Other surgical procedures, which are used to repair bone and tissue problems in the mouth and throat. Should I have surgery to treat obstructive sleep apnea? Treatment if the condition gets worseIf your obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) gets worse, talk to your doctor. You may need another complete sleep study, and you may need to adjust your continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine. You may also need treatment for problems that sleep apnea may cause, such as high blood pressure. In some cases, you may need surgery. Surgical options include: * Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, which removes excess tissue in the throat to make the airway wider.
* Tracheostomy, which creates a hole in the windpipe (trachea). A tube is then put in the hole to bring air in. Doctors rarely use this surgery because it may cause other health problems. However, when other techniques have failed, almost all people who are treated with tracheostomy will be cured of their sleep apnea. Should I have surgery to treat obstructive sleep apnea? What To Think AboutResearch shows that continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) decreases daytime sleepiness, especially in people who have moderate to severe sleep apnea.6, 4 However, CPAP may not work as well for people who have mild sleep apnea.4If you use CPAP to treat sleep apnea, you need to use it every night. If you do not use it, your symptoms will return right away.Laser-assisted uvulopalatoplasty may be used to treat snoring. It is sometimes used to treat mild to moderate sleep apnea, though it does not benefit all people. This surgery is not approved by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine to treat sleep apnea.7
