My wife is diabetic and she has been seeing blood in her urine since Thursday, what could this be?

Answer:
it could be anyting from a urinary tract infection, to cystitis, to kidney stone. is she on aspirin or coumadin or blood thinners? she needs to see a doctor. its hard to diagnose her on line.
some times when people are too much stressed out they come across his or when they lack water in their system.
see a doc and here is a website for your wifehttp://www.medicinenet.com/
bloody urine for anyone at any time is NOT good!
hard to say but I would think something to do with her kidneys
She needs to go to her Dr.
Diabetes is hard on kidneys, so it is something tht needs to be checked by an m.d. I have diabetes and blood in your urine can be a sign of the onset of damage from the disease.
sounds to me like she has a urinary tract infection.Does she have burning upon urination or pain in her lower back or the need to drop every thing and go right then? If so she probably has an UTI.On the other hand, some people have no s/s until they start urinating blood.Anytime you urinate blood it is a serious health condition, and seeking medical attention ASAP is required. If left untreated it could cause a kidney infection and in worse case scenarios, infection in the blood called Urosepsis. It could also mean she is going into renal failure which is a side effect of diabetes.Renal failure is when the kidneys do not function correctly or not at all.Take her to the ER now if she is awake,or as soon as possible in the morning.
ABCs for good Diabetes Care.
(1) Get your Glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) test done at least twice a year. (Target: Below 7).
(2) Albuminuria. Get your urine micro-albumin test done atleast twice a year. (Target: Below 30).
(3) Aspirin Check with your doctor if you need to take aspirin daily.
(4)Blood pressure. Get your blood pressure checked every visit. (Target: Below 130/80 mm Hg)
(5)Cholesterol Get your LDL (bad cholesterol) levels checked at least once a year. (Target: Below 100 mg/dL). Triglycerides. (Target: Less than 150 mg/dL) Serum Cholesterol (Target: Less than 200 mg/dL) HDL (good cholesterol) (Target: More than 50 mg/dL)
(6)Diabetes Education. Know about diabetes %26 get updated regularly.
(7)Eye exam. Get your eyes examined regularly, get checked at least once a year.
(8)Teeth. Get your teeth examined by a Dentist and get tartar (plaque) removed once in a year.
(9)Foot care. Check your feet daily . Request your doctor to check them every visit. Get an extensive foot examination done once in a year.

(11)Health life style. Exercise regularly %26 stay healthy.
(12)Identify special medical needs. Voice your health concerns to your doctor . Follow your doctor鈥檚 advice.Urinalysis may be conducted in a clinical lab. Kidney stones or Urinary tract infection may be the cause.
Consult an Urologist or Nephrologist.
Please see the web pages for more details on Bloody urine (Hematuria), Urinary tract infection and Diabetic nephropathy.
What are the causes of blood in urine? There are multiple causes of blood in urine. Some are serious, including cancers, trauma, stones, infections, and obstructions of the urinary tract. Others are less important, and may require no treatment. These may include viral infections, nonspecific inflammations of the kidney, medications which thin the blood's clotting ability, and benign prostate enlargement. Here is another interesting article on blood in the urine:
http://www.emedicine.com/aaem/topic50.ht...Your wife should go to the ER or call a family Dr immediately especially with diabetes to prevent any further complications.
Hematuria is caused by a lot of things, and I would not just suppose that it's a UTI. She should call the doctor ASAP
Infection! UTI/Bladder?
Okay that's defintily not good unless she's on her period. If she's not on her cycle; you better take her to the closest hospital and check her in for evaluation. If you don't do that you're risking her life.
