Pain in my left hand side after drinking?

I get numb hot pain in my left hand side between my ribs and my pelvis after drinking. It has been getting progresively worse for the last couple of years. I have had tests for water infections, ultra sound on my kidney and cell counts. The pain seemed to be at the back to start with but is now more at the side and front. It settles down after about a week but as soon as i have alcohol again it triggers it off. I am 39 and do not want to give up drinking as i enjoy a glass of wine or three with my wife. Please sensible answers only.
Answer:
If it's only drinking alcohol that causes the pain - then it would be a good idea to change your drink to something non-alcoholic. That would be the most sensible thing. Then go and see your doctor and ask for their opinion. If you feel like you absolutely cannot give it up - then please do ask for help. You don't need to be a drunkard to have a problem with alcohol -- sometimes even a tiny little bit is too much for some people to handle. Your body obviously doesn't like it anymore, even if your brain is telling you otherwise. Listen to your body. Take notice when it's trying to tell you something is wrong. Don't let it become a problem. You don't need alcohol to have fun. Honest! :-)
This could be a problem with you pancreas or possibly a kidney stone. You need to be further evaluated by you doctor.
sry to hear that. This actually could be serious.....go to a hospital and check in for an appointment. It could come to a point where u might need surgery...all i can say is that good luck :)
Well my first thought was your heart because you said it was on the left side, but you described it as being lower down. Also if you went for those tests I presume the doctors would have covered that idea.
Perhaps you should change doctors and go for a trial and error thing. Like over a month or two monitor a particular organ or theory until each expecting the answer is crossed out.
Could it possibly be your Liver? Maybe its failing or you have a liver condition.
Perhaps you are drinking bad quality wine?
Perhaps your body doesn't like or is allergic to the tannin?
Does this pain happen with only wine or with all alcohol, is it only white or red wine?
Could you change to beer? Because beer usually has the third alcohol content than wine does.I hope this helps.
go 2 the hospital, could b very serious, especially if ur drinking 3 glasses of wine at a time
It sounds as though you are getting gastritis from the alcohol. You could also have GERD, which is terribly aggravated by alcohol. If you have either of those conditions, the only thing you can do to completely alleviate the pain is stop drinking. If you're not willing to do that, you'll have to suffer with the pain until the inflammation eats through your mucous membrane. Then you'll no longer be able to eat or drink much of anything and your problem will be solved. ;)Be sensible...stop drinking if it causes you pain.
